Listen to the Wife
So Matt goes to the gym everyday which is fine. Well today I wanted him to stay home because I just didn't think he needed to be going. He went to the gym anyway because he feels like he's been wasting away. Ha ha ha. About an hour later I get a phone call from him saying he's locker was broken into and one of his debit cards was stolen. Usually no big deal because you just call and cancel your card. Annoying but not the end of the world. There have been many times when I have asked Matt not to go somewhere, he does, and then something bad happens. For example, 2 years ago when he busted his knee for the second time. I asked him not to go, he went, and he got hurt. Then eight weeks later he felt he was all healed up he went to play. I asked him to stay, he went, then I got a call saying I needed to go pick him up because he really blew it out this time. Then about a week ago he went to the gym, before doctor's orders to ride the bike. No big deal but I didn't want him to go. Well he comes back and tells me he lifted some dumb bells and that night he was hurting. When is he going to listen to me? These are just a few examples of why my husband should listen to me. It's called a woman's intuition babe.

Back Home
I've been feeling a bit overwhelmed lately with everything going on and I've been wanting to go back to Snowflake for the 12 Days of Christmas. Matt had a lot of studying to do last week for finals and so it was a perfect time for me to get away and for him to study without distractions. Jayden and I got to go up to Snowflake on Wednesday just in time for my amazing Mom's Apron display in the Pioneer Homes. It was so neat to see all of the different types of aprons. She probably gathered over 100 from different people and not one was the same. My Mom is really involved in the community and so we were really busy the whole time there. My Mom, Dad and Jeanie all participated in the town's Christmas Spectacular and so that was so fun to watch. Mom and Dad were so cute in the dance they performed and Jeanie did a great job dancing with the cheerleaders. I've been begging Jeanie to try out for cheer because I know she would love it and so hopefully this experience maybe would have decided things for her. Watching my parents and sister dance I cried like a Proud Momma. My Dad has lost some weight recently and looked so good dancing up on stage in his costume, and My Mom was as impressive as ever with her high kicks. Jeanie was too cute in her costume and Jayden got so excited every time he saw her. It was so much fun. The weather was beautiful and I got to relax, even though it seems like we didn't stop. I know many people hate Snowflake, and I know there's a lot of wonderful places out there, but Snowflake will always be my home. There is just something about the love you feel from family, neighbors, and the community. It's a sense of belonging that I will always have. Snowflake has a beautiful Main Street and the Heritage Committee really puts in a lot of work to make people feel welcome and that there is something to do during this wonderful time of year. Someday oh someday how I wish to live there and serve as both my parents serve. Of course Steve Reel was there and Matt said if someone had told him 6 years ago (when we were in High School, him in Show Low, me in Snowflake) that Steve Reel would be tickling his son, he would have never believed them. Gotta love the Snowflake.
Oh and here's the cake I made for My Mom's birthday.

More Nonsense
Matt has been bugging me about updating our blog so here it goes. Nothing really exciting has been going on so I'm just going to play catch up. We spent Thanksgiving in Tucson with The Waite's. Jayden was running a high fever and had an allergic reaction from his vaccines so needless to say it wasn't that exciting.
Matt and Tyler went to the car show in Phoenix after Thanksgiving on Saturday. This is the real reason why Matt wants me to post. He wants me to put pictures up of him in cool cars. I'm glad he had a good time and now has something else to occupy his mind.Matt with The Corvette. The forever loved Aston Martin. The R8And last but not least The Challenger.
Also as you can tell Matt has been trying to grow out his facial hair since he had surgery. I love Matt clean shaven(sic). He has the softest skin and he is so handsome when he shaves. Thanks to B Holliday he has had an excuse to grow it out, plus he is always asking me if he can grow a beard. I just don't see him as a bearded mountain man type of guy. Oh well if it makes him happy I guess.

Nonsense Really
So this post is just me venting and going on about nonsense, nothing exciting. So last Wednesday Matthew went in for surgery on his ever growing egg size hernia. He has had this thing since before his mission. We tried to get it fixed a couple years ago, but the Dr. he went to didn't think it was a big deal. It's just gotten even more annoying for him so we really wanted to get it taken care of. I wish we would've been more prepared for what his recovery was going to entail but oh well. This is my second surgery with Matt since we've been married, so I told him this is it for awhile. So I've been taking care of "two babies", the doctor's words, not mine for the past week. It's made me appreciate Matt even more for the help he is to me. Jayden has been especially clingy since going into nursery. He hasn't been sleeping, eating, and won't let me leave his side. So I've had a few melt downs feeling like a single parent but luckily I know it's only for a short time. Before Matt scheduled his surgery some of my friends and I had planned to go see the midnight showing of Twilight. Matt wanted me to still go and so luckily his sister was able to come over for a few hours and help him out. Thank you so much Christina. I needed the break so badly. So Erica Diane, Terra Marcella, Micah Marie and I all went to the show. I have been looking forward to this for a very long time. I knew the movie wasn't going to be nearly as good as the book, but I at least wanted to be entertained. For those of you who enjoyed the movie, I'm glad. I however was so disappointed. I wasn't expecting it to be that cheesy. I'm glad to say it was worth it though. I got to spend hours and hours with my friends and we got to visit. I always feel like I'm 19 but being there somehow made me feel younger and older at the same time. There were so many goo goo gaa gaa girls and it made me wonder how I would've reacted at that age to all of this Twilight business. We got to catch up and laugh and talk about Edward and other STUFF. I'm so proud of Erica because she's been reading it. So it took me a couple of days to recover from the no sleep of that night and of previous nights but I think I'm almost caught up.
Jayden is getting back on schedule and is still loving to be outside. Yesterday he was playing and comes back in the house with a pin in between his teeth. He didn't want to relinquish it but oh I got it. I was completely grossed out and worrying about any diseases he might catch. He finds the weirdest things out there.
One of the highlights of the past week though has been my knives. Since we've been married I've had these stinky knives from Walmart. After almost cutting my fingers off time and time again, we decided it was time. I hate to spend money and Matt loves to spend money so we finally came to a decision. They are no Wusthof but I really do love them.

Fall or Summer
Has anyone else noticed what kind of weather we've been having. It's beautiful out. Yesterday I was outside with Jayden, in my swimsuit cover up, trying to get a tan(one of my favorite things to do). I was literally sweating it was so nice. Today we went out again and it seriously seems like May. Is Thanksgiving really almost a week away.
Jayden loves to be outside. One of the downfalls about living on campus is that we really don't have a yard Jayden can play in. I have the sweetest little boy though and he'll take what he can get.
I've been yard saleing(sic) lately and we found a cheap sandbox. Normally I would never buy one, but because Jayden can't play in the dirt(there is supposedly lead in the ground because of the army) and since we can throw it out and not feel bad for spending a lot of money on it, we had to get it. My wonderful Dad brought down fresh Brimhall Sand & Rock sand to make it complete. He loves it. He can really stay out there for hours.
And to top it all off my Gerber Daisies are doing wonderful. I haven't killed them yet and for that I am proud. Only a few have fallen to the plucking of little boys. Happy Spring I mean Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Matt Is...
Take the Quiz and Share Your Results!
So I had Matt do it too. I knew who he was gonna be, isn't that funny. He wanted to go back and see if he could change it, but then I told him how cool Carlisle was so he was okay with it. 8 more days
I Am...
Take the Quiz and Share Your Results!
I saw this on someones blog and I wanted to know what vampire I would be. Most of you if not everyone is going think I'm really weird for doing this, but I don't care. Twilight comes out in 8 days and I'm getting really excited. Here's why I'm Esme...
You are thoughtful and care very deeply for your family. A loving home is of great importance to you and you always try to make people feel welcome. Although you have a great capacity to love, you also have a great capacity to hurt, so at times you can be sensitive. You're firm when you need to be, but people trust your judgment and appreciate the kind way you always handle things. Not too bad eh.

We're Pooped
So these past few days have been so fun, but so exhausting. We got to go to a Suns game with our friends on Thursday night. We really enjoyed ourselves and our section won $5 cards from Jack in the Box. I was ecstatic because I never win anything. Our Suns lost but it was still a treat to get to go. It's such an ugly picture I know but it's a memory.
Then we woke up super early after getting to bed super late. My parents came down early that morning and we got to spend the day with them playing at the mall, eating, and just having fun. Our Halloween night was kind of lame, but we won't say why. I felt bad for My Mom because she even got dressed up. It was probably the most uneventful night ever.
Then on Saturday we woke up extremely early for our big race. Matthew did a triathlon and I did my first duathlon. For those of you who really know me, you know how much I have always hated to run. I used to have the excuse that it hurt my chest (I used to have somewhat of a chest, not anymore thanks to nursing for a year), but now I don't have that excuse. Matt improved his time from last year, and I was just happy to finish without wrecking my bike, vomiting on the side, or getting lost. I really did enjoy it. It was so fulfilling to push myself through something. I kept saying if I can have a baby without an epidural, I can surely run for a while. Then when I was worried about not doing good enough I just thought to myself, "My Mom is going to be proud of me no matter what time I get".
Then we spent more time with my parents after and that is always fun. My Dad got a new hat which he is so proud of and he even said next year he'll do the race too. Man are we tired.

Girls Are Back In Town
We got quite the exciting news on Friday that Heidi was going to be in town so we were lucky enough to get to spend a few hours with her and her family before church on Sunday.Heidi lives in Louisiana so we haven't seen her since I think Erica got married. Yeah you heard me, long time. We were super weird and goofy in High School, I mean super so we were really missing our other love love Amy Langston who lives in Utah and is a genius and super funny too. It was fun though to get together and laugh. Does anyone else see how long Erica's hair is? What the hula hey Rapunzel?
BOO BASH
On Saturday we went to the Boo Bash that the Campus puts on. My family loves Halloween and I especially love any time where it means I get to wear false eyelashes so we all dressed up.
In case you can't tell Matthew is a basketball player, Jayden is a cute little monkey(again because I am a thrifty shopper and use things twice), and I am Cleopatra.
Jayden was quite fond of getting treats from random people and then if he didn't like a particular vehicle, he would just pass by it, no harm done. Cutest monkey I've ever seen.

Jeanie Pearl, Baby Girl
On Saturday we were lucky enough to go to Jeanie's soccer game in Payson. Jeanie is a really great forward and I love watching her play. One of the things I hate most about not living in Snowflake is that I am not able to watch Jeanie grow up and do her different activities. I miss it so much that it makes me want to slam my hand in a car door. I am so proud of her and the smart, independent, kooky woman that she is becoming. She is really one of my best friends and I love her to death. I always look forward to when I get to spend time with her. Anyway, enough of the sappy stuff.
There's my cute sister. She's only 15 so if any of you out there want to arrange a future setup, let me know.
Happy Birthday To Our Sweet Boy!!!
Happy Birthday to our sweet Missionary James Martin Brimhall. He is now 20 years old. This post is for you sweet James. We all miss and love you so much. Mom and Jeanie were down from Snowflake and so we did a mini celebration for your birthday on Sunday. I made you a cake and we sung Happy Birthday to you. I will try to upload all of the birthday messages, but it's going to take a long time. I just wanted to make sure and wish you a Happy Birthday. Love you so much. Happy 20!!!

Oh What A Beautiful Day!!!
So first off I just want to say how grateful I am for what a beautiful day it is. I have always loved fall. To me it is my favorite season. I love the colors, the air, the smells, the activities, the holidays, the weather, and etc. Matt and I were lucky enough to be sealed in the Snowflake Temple in the fall exactly 3 years ago today. We were sealed on a beautiful day, no wind blowing(amazing since we were in Snowflake), all of our family and friends were there, and I couldn't have asked for a better day. Happy 3 Years Babe. I know I am so blessed to share my forever with you. Thank you for finally making up your mind, and choosing me.

A Spelunking He Will Go
So often I write about what Jayden is doing some might think, uh what about Matt. I promise Matt lives here too and we love him. This morning he went with my two brothers to explore some caves.
Luckily my husband had his trusty headlamp (I would recommend a headlamp to anybody and everybody. We love ours. We use them all the time.) on because they passed right by a rattlesnake who was in fact still alive. John had passed right by it and didn't even see it. Good thing I said my prayers this morning. I was so worried the whole time they were gone. The time that Darrell and John had gone earlier, Darrell had gotten stung by a bee so I had that running in my mind all morning. Then today they saw coyotes, bats, owls, snakes. You better believe I was so glad that I didn't go not to mention I wasn't invited. Oh well. Happy Spelunking boys.

Random
So everyone knows my Mom and how much I love my Mom, but she used to not be the best picture taker. I think she gets it from my grandma. She used to take the most random pictures of people and things. You would look at a picture and think to yourself why did she take this picture. These were all before the digital camera age. She has gotten way better though. So one day I was in Snowflake at my parents house and Jeanie and I were looking through pictures because I was doing a project for my Dad. Jeanie's looking through and all of the sudden says something to the effect of, "Katie, it's Matt." I didn't think it was a big deal because of course we would have pictures of Matt. But she was like, "No Katie, it's Matt when he was younger." So I looked at the picture and I couldn't believe it. If you look at the picture, you'll see Chase Brimhall in the middle and that's who my mom was taking the picture of. She would always take pictures of other people's kids just in case they weren't there. Chase happened to be standing by my future husband Matthew Jordon Waite. It was some regionals choir thing in Junior High I think. Isn't that crazy though. Maybe my Mom knew all along.

He Loves Them
So Jayden's new obsession is his black Sunday shoes. He Loooooves them(he's crying because he wants the camera). He wants them on in the morning when he wakes up, until the second he goes to bed. I'm not gonna fight him on it because it's really not causing any harm, but you should see the looks we get when we go out.
After my class tonight I picked him up at the church where Matt was playing basketball and sure enough, his shoes were still on. He was so excited to get his picture taken when we came home. It's just too cute. I love my baby.
Lesson 3
So tonight was my last class for Course 1. I really enjoyed the class. It was fun to have something to look forward to and for it to be my thing that I did. I'm super excited for other courses that I am going to get to take too. This is just the beginning of my cake and candy decorating. I would so highly recommend anyone taking these classes.

Welcome Welcome Container Store
Is there anybody out there who is as excited as I am about the The Container Store coming to Scottsdale. Every time I watch a home improvement show or something about organizing, they always get their stuff from The Container Store. I am really trying to focus on being more organized and orderly. I've gotten about a hundred times better but I still have a long way to go. I love looking at their website and getting good ideas and just wishing and hoping until I have my own house someday where I can really go crazy. But for now I'm just in the "someday" mode so I'm going to make a trip out to good old Scottsdale one of these days and finally check it out. Anyone care to join me?

Lesson 1
So I am now doing something that I have wanted to do since we've been married. I signed up for a Cake Decorating class from Joanns. I really enjoy baking and I just wanted to get better at decorating. So this is my first cake from the class. I'm putting it on my blog for my mom to see and to track my progress. I love the class. I'm so glad I'm taking it because of all the things I am learning. The cake isn't my style(I guess if I could even say that I have a cake decorating style), but it's one we have to learn. Stay tuned for more progress.

I've Been Waiting
So when Jayden was born I couldn't wait for him to tell me he loved me. I would sit and cry and just imagine how wonderful it would be. Well he hasn't said he loves me yet, but I'm pretty sure he does. He will just walk up to me and give me the biggest hug and give the wettest kisses. I love it. It makes all his fits and tantrums worth it. I love our cuddle time every morning and after his naps. The other day we were in Walmart and I was checking out when the lady behind me made a comment on how Jayden looked like he was quite the character. I wonder what gave her that idea. Could it have been the Oreo smudged all over his face or the confused look he gave her? I just laughed and said you have no idea. We did a yard sale at Matt's parents house over the Labor Day weekend and we had all the stickers leftover from it. Jayden can sit for literally hours and play with the stickers. He already has a bigger attention span than I do and is such a cheese ball. I love my little boy. I am so grateful to be his Mom and I can't wait for all of our adventures to come.
