Back Home

I've been feeling a bit overwhelmed lately with everything going on and I've been wanting to go back to Snowflake for the 12 Days of Christmas. Matt had a lot of studying to do last week for finals and so it was a perfect time for me to get away and for him to study without distractions. Jayden and I got to go up to Snowflake on Wednesday just in time for my amazing Mom's Apron display in the Pioneer Homes. It was so neat to see all of the different types of aprons. She probably gathered over 100 from different people and not one was the same. My Mom is really involved in the community and so we were really busy the whole time there. My Mom, Dad and Jeanie all participated in the town's Christmas Spectacular and so that was so fun to watch. Mom and Dad were so cute in the dance they performed and Jeanie did a great job dancing with the cheerleaders. I've been begging Jeanie to try out for cheer because I know she would love it and so hopefully this experience maybe would have decided things for her. Watching my parents and sister dance I cried like a Proud Momma. My Dad has lost some weight recently and looked so good dancing up on stage in his costume, and My Mom was as impressive as ever with her high kicks. Jeanie was too cute in her costume and Jayden got so excited every time he saw her. It was so much fun. The weather was beautiful and I got to relax, even though it seems like we didn't stop. I know many people hate Snowflake, and I know there's a lot of wonderful places out there, but Snowflake will always be my home. There is just something about the love you feel from family, neighbors, and the community. It's a sense of belonging that I will always have. Snowflake has a beautiful Main Street and the Heritage Committee really puts in a lot of work to make people feel welcome and that there is something to do during this wonderful time of year. Someday oh someday how I wish to live there and serve as both my parents serve. Of course Steve Reel was there and Matt said if someone had told him 6 years ago (when we were in High School, him in Show Low, me in Snowflake) that Steve Reel would be tickling his son, he would have never believed them. Gotta love the Snowflake.
Oh and here's the cake I made for My Mom's birthday.
