Birthday Boy

We celebrated Matt's birthday on Saturday. We were able to go out on a date and enjoy our favorite salad at Oreganos and then indulge in a Pizza Cookie. After that we went and shopped and shopped. I almost went into labor because my husband swore he knew where the footlocker store was in the Scottsdale Mall, but he was wrong. He had me walking around everywhere. Seriously that mall...when I do want to go into labor, now I know where to go. I sure do love him. There isn't anyone I would rather spend my time with. After shopping we went to Sprinkles and he got his favorite cupcake(2). I think he could have ordered a whole dozen, but we're on a budget you know. After Sprinkles we did a little more shopping where he found his shoes that he had been searching for, and also a chance to take a picture of some amazing car. I couldn't tell you what it was, but he could, and he made me take pictures of it just because. I think it was the first birthday he has actually enjoyed for some time which was my goal. Next year he hits a big one. I think I better start planning now.

Superman

So today is the 25th, and that means exactly 5 years ago today was my due date for Jayden. I was so positive he would have been here early, but no. I didn't go into labor for another 6+ days and that was me being induced. He is a funny boy. He's been on my mind a lot so I thought I'd share a picture of him I did for photography class. I sure do love this kid.

Photography Class, Week 1

I have had my Canon 50D for over 2 years, and it has basically been a point and shoot up until now. I am taking a photography class that basically teaches you how to use your DSLR and how to shoot in manual, and I am loving it. Literally after the first 20 minutes of the class, I felt like I had already gotten my money out of it. My teacher is fabulous, and really knows her stuff. Every week we have an assignment, and this week was just figuring out our aperture. These are my photos for week 1. I know they aren't fabulous, but I can already tell a huge difference in my pictures. I'm super excited. So if you have DSLR, and don't know how to use it, I would absolutely recommend taking a class. If you want a recommendation for a teacher, I know a pretty great one.

Those Days

Easter Sunday Before Church

Celebrating Easter @ Midwestern

More photos of Easter Sunday
We had such a great Easter weekend this year. We got to spend some time with Matt on Saturday at school and Jayden and Jolie loved it. Midwestern does a great job of putting on events for the family. It was one of those days where you can see how happy your kids are, and how much fun they had and it just makes you happy. Jolie and Jayden both kept telling me how much fun it was.
I really want my kids to know why we celebrate Easter and that it's really not about a bunny and eggs. During the week we watched a lot of the Bible Videos made by the church. They are fantastic. We just watched one after another after another. They didn't get an Easter basket this year, but an Easter jar. I put a little bit of candy in the bottom, filled it with some grass, then had an egg and put a scripture in it for both of them. I know they don't really care now, but I hope it will be something they look forward to. It was such a great weekend and I'm so glad we got to spend it with some family. My Aunt Nana had a dinner at her house in Chandler on Sunday afternoon and it was just fun to see the kids play and visit with family. I have a box of Jelly Bellies from Matt's Mom that I can't wait to open. It was just another one of those days where everything seemed perfect(knock on wood). Matt had a pretty tough week of school so it felt like we deserved it. It was a good reward for such a tough week I guess you could say.

Chop Chop

I have a question for you...How many 4 almost 5 year old boys cut THEIR OWN hair? I've heard of many girls cutting their hair, even boys cutting other peoples hair, but not many boys cutting their own hair. The sad thing is I was in the bathroom doing Jolie's hair and I sent Jayden to the other bathroom to do his hair. I am trying to get him to be more independent of a morning for kindergarten. He comes back and I am super impressed with how good it looked and so I praised him and praised him. He smiled and smiled and was so proud of himself. Well Matt comes home and instantly asks if I cut his hair. I tell him no and then we find out that Jayden cut his own hair. I had seen hair in the bathroom earlier, but in my pregnancy brain I just figured it was Matt's. Crazy I know. Well he had cut it pretty short in a particular spot so his summer buzz came a month early. He got a super short buzz that night along with a practical joke played on him. Matt only buzzed the top of his head so he looked like a spanish monk. Jayden instantly cried and Matt, Jeanie, and myself laughed so hard I had to cross my legs not to pee my pants. Poor kid. Later that night he told Matt that when he was a Dad, he was going to cut Matt's hair like that, and have Mommy and Jeanie laugh at him. Matt has pictures of the haircut on his phone. If I can figure out how to upload those, you will get to see for yourself.

I'm Not Tired, I Promise

Dear Mom,

I am not tired, and I do not want to take a nap. Let me just sit here for a bit and watch a movie. I am comfortable I promise.

Love,
Jayden Monroe Waite
